Men's Ministry Ideas
Event ideas and Resources
Here are some of the event ideas and resources that have been sent through to us. We hope and pray that you may find them helpful, useful and perhaps, inspirational.
Men and Meat video and
news article (Three Daves - a Butcher, a Knife Sharpener, and a Preacher Guy - were invited to entertain and inform. Other churches like Hornsby have taken the concept and improved their events - Mark, Neutral Bay Anglican)
Men and Meat - need a butcher? Gary (02 6382 2920) is a butcher/deacon/lay preacher in Young who is willing to travel to Sydney (or surrounds) to carve and/or speak at your Men and Meat event. He charges for only the cost of the meat (approx $350 for 50 people)
Men and Machines (a night with three supercars (a Ferrari F430, a Porsche 911 GT3, Aston Martin Vantage V8 - Mark, Neutral Bay Anglican)
Men and Machines (333 paying adults or kids over 12, 136 free kids, 41 exhibitors including the Jesus Racing Ute, bikes (dirt & road), cars (old, new, race, drag), go-karts, Fire brigade, Police, 2 Trucks, Mechanical Bull, Clydesdale horse, Boats, 1 Helicopter (including joy flights) and mini hot rods for the kids to drive - Mark, Macarthur Combined Churches)
MenIIMen Motor Show, Castle Hill - 22 May 2010 (A great way for men to meet and share a passion of machines. On display includes dragsters, racing cars, vintage, sports cars, motor bikes, Harleys. A gospel presentation and BBQ on the day. If you are interested call Bruce on 0409 423 275)
Men and Medicine (a night filled
with men's health information and a chance to ask all the questions men should/don't - Bay, Chatswood Presbyterian)
Chatswood Mens Ministry (CMM) promotes itself with this brochure, maybe it is something your church could use?
MenIIMen The Shed, Castle Hill (covers the hard hitting topics that men need to discuss in life, such as porn, depression, health, fatherhood, brotherhood, love, etc.
More info, contact Bruce on 0409 423 275
"Men's Revenge" weekend retreat promo video (dont be put off by the feminine start! - Marty, Allowera Baptist)
Mens Prayer Breakfast and Bike Ride promo video (a sequel! - Marty, Allowera Baptist)
Of course there are plenty of other events through which you can encourage your men. How about these:
- Sporting challenges with other local churches (like Ten Pin Bowling between the blokes of Nowra, Huskissen and Bomaderry)
- Trivia nights
- Barefoot bowls
- A BBQ
- A Fathers Day talk by an experienced Dad
- Watching big sporting events together
- Father-child camping weekends
- A "classic video games" night where you break out the Megadrive, NES or C64
- Watching "Fireproof" on DVD with your wife at a combined Men's and Women's ministry event
And don't forget to lock in next year's
mkc to perhaps kickstart your men's ministry year!
If you want to add an idea or suggestion - with men in mind of course -
email it through to us!
